The Workshop - July 2017

Theatre Planners and The Lounge Theatre in Hollywood hosted the Ashes to Ashes Workshop, July 24 – 29, 2017.   The Workshop concept is not a new one to the theatre. Many new plays and musicals have one or more workshops as a part of the development process. Equity has contracts for just such endeavors. What is unusual is to have a workshop of a new play that is going to have a production in one of the many intimate stages in Los Angeles. The Athena Cats, ever with an eye to what is best for this play, playwright and director, invested the resources in developing Ashes to Ashes in a workshop format before hiring a design team and long before the first rehearsal for the Odyssey Theatre Production (a guest production. Playwright Debbie Bolsky and Director Katherine James worked hard with brilliant cast members who helped take this madcap romantic comedy one step closer to its production this holiday season.
